Day 13: Decisions!

Day 13: Decisions!

Miquel and I have been talking about buying a new car for a few years now.  We love our 11-year old Hyundai, lovingly named Ix. The idea of changing cars is bittersweet, I talk to inanimate objects like I do with my plants. Afterall, everything is made of energy, isn’t it? Our car has looked after us for so long and we’re incredibly grateful for that. However, things are slowly starting to go wrong, nothing serious, but niggly things that need to be checked out, and replaced and you start to wonder if something big is going to go wrong and then you’re forced to buy whatever car you can afford at the time.

We also want to sell our car while it’s still OK. Not only can we get something for it, but it will be serviced properly and resold. I cringe at the idea of our car going to the metal yard (is that the word?) and being crushed 🙁

Choosing a car is a complicated issue for us. Obviously price is a factor but the car also needs to be easy for me to get into and out of. So it has to be a small SUV. We have tried SO many cars, even those way out of our budget and a lot of them have weirdly shaped windows which means I have to bend my head too much to get through the door. The boot also needs to be the right height and shape for Miquel to get the foldable wheelchair in and out easily. There are a few that seem ‘OK’ but we’re still looking and will keep at it until we find the right one, the car that ticks all the proverbial boxes!

On another note, my last fast was Sunday, I did brilliantly –38 hours. I’m pleased with my fasting– 2 x 36 hours fasts a week. Where I notice I’m not doing so well is on my eating days when Miquel’s not working. We tend to have too many ‘treats’. I need to put a cap on that ASAP.
